We are on Freedom of the seas. One of our stops yesterday was Jamaica. Knowing ahead of time that Jamaica is not safe to be out and about without a guide or some sort, We booked Chukka Good Hope day pass as our excursion through Royal. We got into the shuttle and had the driver and his assistant tell us about the history and the country. Honestly when we got to Good Hope it was beautiful, and it was a great place to have a relaxing day with my children after a hectic week. That didn’t last long.

I took my boys to see the water wheel, and let my almost 16 year old daughter stay by the waterfall. She was with some passengers from our ship. She has placed 5th and second in oregon for wrestling, and could take a full grown man down if she wanted too. Knowing that she has self defense skills, she was with safe individuals, and knowing that we were at a well known day resort, I honestly was not too worried. I was gone for 10 minutes. I got a message from my daughter. It said “I’m not safe!” I quickly grabbed my boy’s hands and sprinted back to her as fast as possible, yelling her name. I found her walking down from the water falls with a minor male and female. behind them was an employee of the estates, he quickly turned around and left after he saw me.

This is what my daughter said happened: She says she was laying there sunbathing and talking to the two other children. This employee came into the pool area, grabbed a life saving ring and held it, acting as if he was life gaurd on duty. he stared at my daughter and slowly started getting closer to her. He sat down next to her and then asked her if he could sit next to her. She said no thank you. He asked her if he could lay next to her. She said no thank you. He asked where her family was. She said I was below. He asked how old she was. She said 15. He said “I will keep that in mind.” He asked her to leave and go to a room with him. She said no. He then said ”I just can’t help it, you are so beautiful.” He then tried to touch her upper thigh area, she pulled away, but he still touched her. That’s when she told me she wasn’t safe and then the two other children and her left together. He followed them.

We found the supervisor. we told him what happened. He said there was only two people wearing that color shirt, so it shouldn’t be too hard to figure out who it was. He went and talked to both of them. He told us both of them denied it, despite there being witnesses. Instead of having them leave the property, he let them continue their shifts, able to to wherever on the property, while there were other young females around, their parents letting them go off by themselves, probably assuming they were safe just like I did. When we had walked to the water mill which was one of the thing’s advertised on our excursion, one of the employees actually told us to be careful over there because tourists have gone missing from there. Very unsettling. The supervisor was just so unbothered by it that it made it seem that this might be a regular occurrence? Anyways. We got on the first bus out of there. We had to wait an hour. Once we got back to the ship we filed a complaint with security. They took a report and contacted the Jamaican police. Please be careful going to Chukka Good hope on the day pass. I would recommend this for younger couples or elderly couples, but not families. Especially families with younger females.

Despite having our contact information, the owner of the facility never reached out to us to apologize, or make sure my daughter was ok.

According to Jamaican authorities, the individual in question is facing criminal charges, and the facility owners may be facing criminal...

Booked a 3-mile river tubing trip through a cruise line. Representatives from Chucka met us at the port and led us to the area with the buses. As we began to board it was quickly determined we had more people than would fit on the single bus they had provided. The rest of us had to wait a while for them to locate another bus and driver for the rest of the group. Did they not know how many people were booked ahead of time? The instructions provided told us to bring a change of clothes for the ride back after tubing but they left out we would be required to rent a locker for $10 to put our bags in on arrival. The locker room was coed, very dim with no lights, only the light coming in from the windows, and maybe 3 small changing rooms with curtains.

The large group was guided on a trail down to the start of the tubing by the guides. The guides were very annoying, they seemed like they were high on drugs. The photos provided to the cruise line showed people in tubes going down the river in tubes on their own. That was not the case. They separated us into 3 groups of about 15 people and then we had to wait as everyone got in a tube one by one and they tied the groups of tubes together. This process took a considerable amount of time in itself but was also hindered by the guides constantly joking around with each other. Eventually, we began our float down the river with our guides continuing to horseplay and constantly telling us a crocodile named George was in the water and slapping the water with paddles and splashing water on the participants. The guides told us very little about the history of the area, they pointed out one bridge and that was it. The description given to the cruise line listed the tubing trip was 3 miles long however we were floating for about 30 minutes before we were told we were at the end of the tubing run and we were still close enough to walk back to where we started without a shuttle. As we were getting out I asked one of the guides about the distance, he was unaware the trip was being sold as being 3 miles long and said they didn’t sell a tubing trip that long. When I measured the distance on Google Maps later it was just over half a mile of tubing. The pool with the waterfall you could jump from and the water slide was nice after tubing.

Getting back to the cruise ship we were crammed into the busses like sardines and our driver was in a big rush to get us back passing other cars and busses on the narrow dirt road. Not sure what his hurry was we got back to the port well over an hour before the ship was scheduled to leave. I’ll probably skip any excursions sold by Chukka on...

This was the second of two excursions we purchased through this tour company and we would definitely NOT recommend their tours. Unfortunately we had booked in advance through a Sunwing/Nexus agent at the resort where we stayed in Runaway Bay so were unable to cancel this excursion. We had requested an excursion where we could do a rum tasting. The Nexus agent was insistent that we could only do a package deal and must take three options for the one excursion in order to have the rum tasting package. We chose rafting with the rum tasting and ziplining for my husband. I had to pay for the ziplining in order to get the package even though I wasn't able to physically able to do the ziplining due to a disability. When we arrived at the Adventure Outpost, the first portion of the excursion was the ziplining. I had to explain to at least three of the tour operators that I wasn't able to do the ziplining due to a disability. They made a big deal out of it, made me sign a waiver, then after making a big fuss about it and making me feel like I didn't belong there, I sat and waited for my Husband's ziplinging to be done...and I waited and waited. They called our names to go on the second portion of the excursion before my husband was back from the ziplining. They seemed put out that he wasn't back. Shortly after, they called our names for the rafting again so I had to explain, yet again, that I was was waiting for him to return from ziplining. It was almost an hour and a half of him waiting to zipline, complete the zipline course, then return to the waiting area. We were then rushed through the rafting experience which was only about 30 minutes in total. They rushed us back to the tour outpost so that we could catch our 2 o'clock shuttle back to the resort. We had to remind them that we paid for the rum tasting as well. They then said, "oh, the tasting is started but you can still make it in". We went to the tasting and only got the last ten minutes of the tasting rushed through. Yet, this was the main part of the excursion we were wanting to experience. The shuttle to get to and from the excursion lasted as long as the excursion itself with several stops along the way to pick up and drop off guests from other resorts. Save your money and do not book anything through this company. And ignore the Nexus tour booking agent at the resort. They are only interested in selling the most expensive excursions they can and are not at all interested in what your interests are. Overpriced and disappointing, this is not something we would ever book again. I would give 'no stars' for a...

This was one of the most uncomfortable trips to any Chukka attraction we have been to. And as of now we have visited them all. The staff was extremely unfriendly, unhelpful, and just not at ALL what we have come to know of the people of Jamaica or any other Chukka outing we have done. When we did the zipline the ENTIRE guide crew for the most part made SURE we tipped everyone of them. Even though we never even talked to or was helped by two of them. I gave the lead guide a $10 dollar tip and then the second guide asked me where his was. I said to him with the lead guide standing right there that I already did tip them. She replied "Oh No..! That was my tip" So I felt awkward and gave the second guide a tip as well. Well guess what. Two more hands came out and more so EXPECTED me to tip them as well. Now $40 dollars later we were able to escape and move on. The rest of the day was more of the same. Tips expected EVERYWHERE.! A tip is supposed to be optional and based on the experience you had. Not something expected. We already paid for our pass and that is expected. The ONLY person to get a deserved and not asked for or expected tip was the nice lady at the coffee shop. "Thumbs up" (the latte was yummy!) We were shocked at the whole staff and their attitude. They did not seem to be very nice UNLESS they were asking for tips. After that they could have cared less. Although they seemed to be jolly and talk amoungst themselves just fine. But not to any of the guests that were there helping pay the salary they get for the job they are EXPECTED to do. We will not let this experience effect the way we feel towards the Jamaican people in a whole as we have made friends here and have always had positive experiences in the past on resort and off resort. And we even visit some villages that have nothing to do with the resort we stay at. They were all always awesome people here. I think Chukka management needs to take a good hard look at how the staff at Good Hope attraction is treating the guests that come there and spend the money they make from them. Our next trip we will for SURE not be going to Good Hope and will have to think hard if we would spend $1000.00 US on Chukka tours next time. I think Chukka management should take Delroy from the Sandy Bay attraction and show the staff at Good Hope how to make guests feel comfortable, welcome and apprecaited.!!
