This is a pleasant well kept beach and it was lovely to see so many local families and their kids there given the issues with beach access in Jamaica.
You pay a donation to get in which I based on the only UK beach I know of where you pay to enter as in both cases it is to ensure that the environment is maintained.
The reason I have given this place 4 stars is that firstly you only have a small amount of water to swim in that isn't rocky or full of seaweed, which you have to avoid as the seabed is teaming with sea urchins or sea eggs as they are called locally. That said although there are buoys the water further out is for the most part usable as it's not deep and you can walk around. However as the buoys are there I would assume you have to watch out for rip tides or cross currents. Secondly, despite the donation you have to pay for sun loungers and pay a top for the toilet, however the same beach in the UK where you pay is much the same so I cannot grumble.
There are also various people selling jerk and other food so take your time before choosing a stall to buy from.

Read moreNice little public beach that is readily accessible to anyone. I wouldn't say it's the best beach in Portland, but it is definitely one that can pass.
The environment was clean, and the vibe was nice. This is really one of the few 'free' beaches you can find there
Well, the admission is free, yes, but every now again, especially on the weekends, they may ask for a contribution. They say it goes towards helping with the maintainace of the beach.
I don't mind giving a contribution for that purpose, because it's a beautiful beach and it takes money to keep things in good condition.
Parking isn't an issue. There is plenty of space.
There are some stalls there that I think sell food and beverages. I didn't really go over there, so I dont have much to say there.
The beach, at the time of my visit, did have a sea urchin issue. They took over a large part of the sea bed... Not sure if that's the case...
Read morePortland Jamaica, the best place in the world. The beaches, the rivers, the mountains, the green and fruited land, the people so beautiful, friendly and kind.
