曹洞宗の「法界寺」は会津坂下町の市街地の中にひっそりと位置している小さな寺院です。 細い路地の先にあり、駐車場も見当たらないこじんまりとした寺院ですが、「中野竹子の墓」がある事で有名です。 竹子は戊辰戦争時に女性でありながらも、新政府軍と先頭きって戦い、その銃弾に倒れた悲劇の女丈夫です。(「八重の桜」でも出てきますし鶴ヶ城内の展示にも出ています) 薙刀で奮戦したと伝わる竹子ですが、寺院にはそれが遺品として...

幕末の会津戦争の烈娘、中野竹子のお墓があります。幕末の歴史や新選組・会津が好きな方なら行って頂きたいお寺です。会津市街からは結構離れた所にありますので、クルマ等で訪寺される事をオススメします。また、駐車場が確認できないので、路駐になるやも知れません。
