2024年11月9日、訪問させていただきました。大人料金が値上がりして700円になっていました。 この日、夕方近くの訪問だったのですが。ウミガメの餌やりも体験できました。餌がキャベツだったのが印象に残りました。

海と人との共生 海は長い年月をかけ、様々な生き物たちを産み出してきました。 また、海があることで大地に雨を降らし、森や川を作ることで陸上にも沢山の生命を生みました。 人々はその生き物の生命をいただき、食べて味わったり、見て感動したり、装飾品にしたりと、人と海には沢山の繋がりがあるのです。 本館では、奄美特有の生き物たちを展示しています。 サンゴ礁の生き物や、生活に身近な生き物、初めて知る生き物たちをご覧になり、『海と人との共生』を感じて欲しいです。

フロアガイド 奄美のサンゴ礁の海・砂浜・海辺の森を立体的に見ることができます。

奄美エコラマ 館内最大の大水槽は水深5m、水量約150tです。 奄美の代表的な海 中の地形を模しており、「イノー」と呼ばれる枝サンゴが見られる浅場や、沖の白波の立つ「シーバナ」からは急に深くなる様子を再現しています。大水槽では奄美にいるなじみの深い魚たちが泳ぎ、2階の浜辺を模した場所へは、ウミガメたちが間近まで寄ってきます。 エサをあげたり、ふれあいを楽しむことが出来ます。

Aquarium エリア 横幅3メートルの水槽には、奄美ならではの熱帯魚が展示されその他水槽でも、保護されたアカウミガメ・アオウミガメの赤ちゃんなど珍しい生体をご覧頂けます。奄美で採取された267種の貝殻を展示しています。 断面や成長過程など、なかなか見ることの出来ない貴重な標本が並びます。 また、2011年に発見され話題になった「アマミホシゾラフグ」に関する展示も是非ご覧下さい。

学ぶ・遊ぶ 体験エリア 250インチの大型スクリーン 映像ホールでは、奄美海洋展示館オリジナル映像「太陽からの贈り物」の上映を行っております。 展示館2階の、250インチの巨大スクリーンに映し出される「いのちを紡ぐ神秘の島」では奄美の自然を学ぶことができます。 スクリーン前には大浜で見つかったマッコウクジラの骨格が展示されています。 VR体験では迫力満点! 奄美の海に潜った様な体験ができます。 *VR対象年齢13歳以上 中央付近では貝殻などを使ったワークショップも体験できます。キーホルダーや海のクラフト、塗り絵缶バッジなどあります。

【入口の案内板】 奄美群島国立公園 Amamigunto National Park 生命にぎわう亜熱帯のシマ - 森と海と島人のくらし - Thriving nature in the subtropical islands -the forest, the ocean, and the life of the islanders- 奄美群島国立公園は、奄美群島にある奄美大島、喜界島、徳之島 沖永良部島、与論島の島々からなり、大陸から分離した山がちな島とサンゴ礁が隆起した平坦な島に分けられます。奄美大島は山がちな島で、奄美・琉球の固有な動植物、サンゴ礁の景観、そして島の環境文化が魅力の国立公園です。 Amamigunto National Park consists of Amami-Oshima, Kikai, Tokunoshima, Okinoerabu, and Yoron in the Amami Islands, and is divided into mountainous islands separated from the continent and flat islands with uplifted coral reefs. Amami-Oshima is a mountainous island, and is a national park with the unique flora and fauna of Amami and Ryukyu, the scenery of coral reefs, and the environmental culture of the islands,

島の成り立ち The origin of the islands 現在の島の姿は、ほ乳類や鳥類が台頭してきた中新世(約1200万年前)にユーラシア大陸から分離してできました。その後も海水面の変動などにより、島や大陸とつながったり分離したりしながら現在の島が形成されました。 The current appearance of the islands was separated from the Eurasian continent during the Miocene (about 12 million years ago) when mammals and birds emerged. After that, due to changes in sea level, the current island was formed while connecting to and separating from islands and continents.

大浜海岸のサンゴ礁 Coral reef on the Ohama Beach 大浜は海岸線にサンゴ礁が発達し、白波が立つ礁嶺(シーバナ) と砂浜との間にできた礁池(イノー)が広がる美しい海岸です。砂浜ではサンゴの死骸や貝殻が細かく砕けてきた白い砂浜や「ビーチロック」という砂や礫が石灰分によって固結した板状の岩石が観察できます。 On the Ohama coast, you can see the beautiful coast where coral reefs develop and the reef lagoon (Ino) formed between the white-waved reef crest (Shibana) and the sandy beach spreads out. On the sandy beach, you can observe the white sandy beach where dead coral and shells are crushed into small pieces, and the plate-shaped rock called "Beach rock" where sand and gravel are...

This place is a little old but the exhibits are amazing and you can also explore the white sandy beach just in front of the building too. The best place indoor in my opinion is definitely the turtle tank with the top shaped like a normal rocky shore and you can feed the turtles at periodic timings. There are other tanks at the lower level with interesting creatures like the grab that will use trash to camouflage it's shell! This is the place to visit in Amami Oshima. There is a gift shop and an aquarium with a huge variety of local ocean life to see and learn about before you enter the waters around Amami Oshima. The cafe is awesome. I recommend the umigame burger. The bun is the shape of...
