Masuo Ikeda Memorial Museum — Attraction in Atami

こじんまりした池田満寿夫氏の記念館。作品展示数は多くないが、間近にじっくりと鑑賞できる。氏の工房に隣接しているのも、往時を想像する楽しみがある。

池田満寿夫記念館は、油絵、版画、小説、映画、陶芸、書など芸術のあらゆる分野で活躍したマルチアーティストの池田満寿夫さんが亡くなって10年後の2007年に開館しました。 1982年12月、熱海に移り住んだ満寿夫さんは、1986年12月、新たに取り組み始めた作陶の場として下多賀に工房を構え、満寿夫の「満」と佐藤陽子さんの「陽」をとって『満陽工房』と名付けました。その後、【芸術は私有するものではなく多くの人たちと共有するもの】という持論から作品展示場を増築しました。 『池田満寿夫記念館』として開館しているのは、この作品展示場部分で、版画、書、陶、ブロンズなどを展示しています。

This is a small museum dedicated to the memory of Masuo Ikeda. Although there are not many works on display, visitors can appreciate them up close and personal. The museum is located next to his studio, where visitors can enjoy imagining what it was like in his day.

The Ikeda Masuo Memorial Museum opened in 2007, 10 years after the death of Masuo Ikeda, a multi-artist who was active in all fields of art, including oil painting, printmaking, novels, movies, ceramics, and calligraphy. In December 1986, he opened a studio in Shimotaga as a place for his new ceramic endeavor, which he named "Manyo Kobo" after "Manjuo" and "Yo" after Yoko Sato. Later, based on the theory that "art is not something to be privately owned but to be shared with many people," the studio was expanded to include an exhibition space for his works. 時節柄、来館者はあまり多くないようですが、貴重な作品も展示されています。

状況によっては、隣接するアトリエもちょっと見せてもらえるかもしれません。亡くなられる直前まで作品の製作で過ごされていた息づかいが感じられます。
