A very beautiful waterfall formed from the eruption of Mt Aso iabout 100,000 years ago . It has a drop of around 20 m and width about 120 m . It also carried a nickname “ miniature Niagara Falls of Japan ‘“ due to its horseshoe shape . There’s a suspension bridge near by where you can watch the full view of the waterfall. There’s restaurant supplying good food near by and from the restaurant, there’s a path leading to the basin of the waterfall. Very easy assessable by car . A very magnificent place to spend a few hours .

A nice little oasis in the Japanese countryside. An hour drive from Beppu and a nice way to cool off in the stream or pool under the waterfall. Restrooms located in the free parking that is only 20 feet from the trailhead. If you have small children it may be a little difficult for them to get around on the large and slippery boulders near the water. Also, surprisingly you can walk up the (and over) the edge of the waterfall.

Pretty waterfalls. Not many people, and not much else in the area. You can walk along the top, down to the bottom, and across a suspension bridge running parallel. No admission fee, or fee for parking. There are some restaurants nearby, albeit they were all closed when I went. Toilet and vending machine on site. Limited suitability for the mobility impaired. Highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the area.

Nice waterfall. There are food shops and restaurants around. It is worth a visit if you are around. As we went there with a local people who drove there with his car and we made a stop of 30 minutes only, we don't know if the place is reachable with pubblic transportation and what are the activities that can be done around.

By far one my favorite places in Kyushu, I visited 3 times in total. The drive to this location is really fun. Road trips with university friends.
It’s a free area to explore with a nearby restaurants and souvenir shops.
Parking is free as well. It’s obviously countryside so the people are genuinely nice.

Beautiful waterfall!
There is hanging bridge very close to the waterfall and a service area for food and beverages.
They also sell souvenirs, fresh vegetables and fruits.
Has a nice scenery and there is a big bed of flowers close to the waterfall during spring and summer!
Breathtaking view!
