Actually live out here and absolutely love it! The natural beauty all around is amazing. There are plenty of hiking, rivers, ancient Temples, and parks to enjoy. There is also many fine restaurants and coffee shops to enjoy. The wildlife is also amazing, every day you can hear all sorts of birds. deer, and even an occasional monkey. the National Park and all around it (Rt. 140, 299) is amazing, lovely drive and scenery is just like in Southern Germany. Will go there again on a longer trip with over-night stay ! Best place till now, beside Nagano and Northern...

Not enough explanations over there. One needs to read and learn from Japanese sources. But quite a lovely place. Relaxing, nature a plenty and loads of mosquitoes! Do carry some repellant along.

大菩薩嶺に登りました。 5年ぶりの大菩薩嶺です。 このコースからは天気に恵まれれば素晴らしい富士山の景色が楽しめる人気の登山ルートですよね〜。 上日川峠駐車脇のロッジ長兵衛の横の登山口から福ちゃん荘前に、そこからは左方面、唐松尾根を登って雷岩を目指します。下りは展望の良い尾根を伝って、賽の河原から介山荘まで降りてお手洗いをお借りしたり、買い物をしたり。その後、よく整備された山道を下ってスタート同様福ちゃん荘経由で上日川峠駐車場脇の長兵衛までの約４時間半の山行でした。 残念ながら曇りがちの天気だったので、富士の全貌を眺めることはできませんでしたが、それでもなんとかシルエットだけでも拝めたのでヨシとしましょう。 日本百名山だけのことはあります。登っていて楽しいコースでした。
