I always go by this park on the way to the Open-air-museum 「The historical village of Hokkaido」. Very good atmosphere there. I really love the huge and tall「Centennial Memorial Tower」inside the park, even though the tower will be demolished in Fall, 2022. The tower is not on a tourist guide for some reason. The tower became really old and some parts have fallen to the ground and it has been banned to enter inside the tower from 2014. It was deicded to demolish in 2018 and will start demolishing in fall 2022. It is said that the cost is $4.72million for demolition, while the maintenance cost is $23.61 million if ot will be kept it for next 50yrs. So this is a final year to witness this historical gigantic starwars-kind-object. 野幌森林公園には開拓の村に行く途中、必ずよります。公園は広々としていて、週末には学生や家族連れで、雰囲気もとても良いです。公園内にある北海道百年記念塔を見るのが楽しみです。とても高く大きい塔で、見ていて清々しいです。2014年（平成26年）老朽化によって金属片が落下したことなどにより、現在 塔の中には立入禁止です。２０１８年末に撤去する方針が延期。２０２２年度中に解体が始まる見通しです。とても残念ですが、解体なら6億円、維持なら50年間で約30億円の費用がかかると言われています。

Great park, excellent trails to walk around just outside of the city. Visited in late February and got around easily birding with no show shoes or skis (although either would have been better). 15 minute walk from Shinrin-Kōen station taking it slow to avoid slipping on the sidewalks.

I only spent 30 minutes and entered through the west gate. I think I must've missed the best parts, I felt it was pretty boring, but I still got some nice pictures. There is definitely a really nice variety of tree species here and that makes it interesting.

大都市近郊としてはまれな大面積の平地林からなる公園。比較的よく残された天然林や草地・小川・池など多様な環境がそろっているため、様々な野鳥・動物・昆虫・草花など四季折々の変化に富んだ自然を楽しむことができます。また、公園の一部は北海道開拓の歴史を記念する地区として指定され、自然ふれあい交流館・北海道博物館・開拓の村などの施設が設置されています。 この公園は、1968年（昭和43年）に北海道百年を記念して道立自然公園に指定され、面積は2,053ha、札幌市・江別市・北広島市の3市にまたがる野幌丘陵に位置しています。 大都市近郊ながら、まとまった面積の森林が残され、さまざまな動植物を観察することができます。 公園内は、大部分を国有林が占め、昭和の森自然休養林や鳥獣保護区に指定されています。北西部に道立の施設が設置されている記念施設地区があるほか、5箇所の入り口からはりめぐらされた遊歩道を使って自然を楽しむことができます。 野幌の森林は、自然林と針葉樹などを植栽した人工林からなっています。自然林は、落葉広葉樹を主体として常緑針葉樹が混生する針広混交林です。地形などの影響を受け、地区によって様相が変化します。太さが1mを超える大木も多く、大都市に近い森林としては驚くほど原生的で、開拓以前の自然の様子を知ることができます。 大きく育った自然林の樹木は、風や直射日光をさえぎり、水を保ち、実や落ち葉などをもたらします。そのような恵みによってさまざまな動物が暮らしています。野幌の周辺では森が小さくなって見ることができなくなった動物も、野幌では見ることができます。

10 - 15 minutes walk from Shinrin Koen(森林公園)station. Went there to do meditation in the mid February. It was - 2 degree Celsius but felt really good to seat on the snow.

道外からの観光で訪れていますが、この公園も広大過ぎて、とても1日で周れるものではありませんでした！ さすがは北海道です。 木々は戦後に利用されたため、それほど太い木がありませんが、9月中旬はちらほら黄葉がみられる緑がほとんどで、白樺やハルニレ、ハクノキなど北海道らしい林、クマザサに覆われた中に、蝦夷の花がさいたであろう立ち枯れた姿や、まだ少し花を残すエゾトリカブトなどが咲いていました。 訪れたい場所とウォーキングルートを合わせて半日過ごしました。、整備されたルートもありますし、アップダウンや階段、道路もあり様々な散策路がありました。 木々の間は涼しいですが、開けた場所では陽射しがあり、夕方には蚊にさされました。軽ハイキングの服装と装備があればよさそうです。
