生まれて初めて大井宿に来訪！明治天皇が宿泊した宿場町だそうで、その面影をひしひしと感じます。恵那市がここまで中山道を推していると思わなかったので、いい意味で驚きました！本陣の前には説明板や枡形の図上もとてもわかり易かった！本陣は何より今でも住んでいるというのが凄いと感じました！

外側からのみで、中へは入れないみたいです。立派なもんが建っていました。さすが本陣です。明治天皇がみえた時には、郡役所になっていて、ここにはお泊りにはなれなかったそうです。

6ヵ所で折れ曲がる中山道、本陣跡には正門が残り、和宮に水を供した井戸、ひし屋資料館として復元した庄屋さんのお宅などが見所です。

大井宿本陣跡。本陣跡とはいえ建物は現存しておらず、この正門と威厳のある塀、カギ状に折れる道が江戸初期の往時を偲ばせます。
