Genkai Energy Park — Attraction in Genkai

Probably better than you were expecting! A helical main building with lots of exhibitions related to energy shown on the walk to the top, some of which are interactive. They have a cute little automata cuckoo clock thing that goes off every hour while playing music like something out of Charlie and the Chocolate factory. I think this is a place that is aimed towards families, with a huge playground space and lots of equipment for the kiddies to have a go on- that said we (wife and I) still enjoyed it. Right next door is a giant glass public conservatory, free entry and worth walking down too. I'd put this on the list for day trip, after visiting Nagano ruins, Hado Cape, then go here, then drive down to Iroha Island. Best...

A huge advertising facility designed to showcase nuclear power plants. Spend an hour or so going around and you will understand how nuclear power works. Inside, there are many things you can only see here, such as films, a full-scale generator and an actual impact-resistant wall. At the end of the tour, there is a museum with all of Saga's specialities, which is also very interesting. (左でも右でもありません。) 原子力発電所の仕組みを、分かりやすく解説してくれる美しい施設。

芝生で彩られた大きな敷地は、ほとんどが無料で楽しむ事が出来る。 駐車場も警備員からの案内がある為、停めやすく、広い。 また、BBQ施設や草スキーなども楽しめるため、訪問した日も多くの子供連れで賑わっていた。 可愛らしい電気トレイン？も人気の様子で、子供たちが列を作っていた。

また、そばにはガラス張りの大きな温室があり、整備され手入れが行き届いた植物の鑑賞も出来る。

原発と言うと、恐ろしい物のように伝えられる場面も多いが、思えば生まれた時から原子力発電所の電力で育ち、もちろん今もその恩恵に預かっているのだな、と改めて気付かされる。

その仕組みも、正に簡潔に示されていた。

先ず、ペレット状にされたウランを核分裂させ、熱を生み出し、その熱エネルギーで水を沸かし、蒸気にする。 その蒸気でタービンを回し発電した電気エネルギーを利用している、と言う意外にも？素朴？で単純な中身を教えてくれていた。

そして、やはり有事の際は、制御棒で停止し、燃料を冷やし続ける…事が必要だとも。

なるほど…そうか、と良く分かる解説だった。

これからの電気自動車の世界的利用を思うと、資源や天然エネルギーがほぼ無い日本において、重要な施設だとも言えると思う。

勿論、放射能の影響を忘れる訳にはいかないが、これまでの様に安全に安定したエネルギー供給が成される事を心から願う。

言うまでもなく、反対派の意見も見解も良く分かる。

しかし、現実の日常としての日々の安定的な価格での電気エネルギー利用は生活をして行く為には、大変重要な要素だ。

天然エネルギーのほとんどを、高値で海外から輸入している日本。

家庭の自動車を思えば、ガソリンを安く購入出来れば、日々の生活には大きなメリットである事と同じように、生活家電や電気自動車に、安定的な電気エネルギーの利用が出来る事は、やはり大変に重要な事だと思う。
