谷川岳の麓のみなかみ町にポツンとある銀座の高級天麩羅屋、天一のオーナー矢吹勇雄のコレクションが展示されている美術館。建物は吉村順三最後の作品で心地よい空間のある優しい建物になっている。 美術コレクションには、岸田劉生の迫力のある麗子像などインパクトのある作品が展示されている。

名胡桃城址の案内所に割引券付きのパンフが置いてあり、岸田劉生の絵（麗子像）に興味があったので訪問。（ちなみに割引券がなければ、JAF会員証でも割引が効くようだ。）

さて、収蔵されている美術品は、岸田劉生のほか、国内外の有名な画家、彫刻家などのものばかりで、創設者はどれほどの私財を投じて集めたのか我々庶民では想像することもできないが、それらを僅かな鑑賞料で見せてくれるのは有り難い。

また私たちが訪問したのは連休中だったが、私たちと入れ替わりに一組が退館していったあとは貸し切り状態だったので、ゆっくり鑑賞することができた。

鑑賞後は、ロビーでハーブティーと簡単な菓子でのおもてなしを受けた。 自然に囲まれた静かな環境で、しばし余韻を味わったのちに美術館を後にした。

ちなみにこの場所へのルートだが、ナビに従うと、建物の南側の階段下にある駐車場に案内されるが、建物の正面玄関前にある身障者向け駐車スペースを利用したい場合は、北側の道路のほうへ回れば良いようだ。 館内も車椅子で移動できるよう...
