I've been to the Kokufu Beach area many times over the years, but never drove to the rocky right side of the beach to explore until this trip. It was worth it- what an interesting and beautiful find.
If you follow the road along to the right of the carpark above Kokufu beach, you will find a weathered souvenir shop next to Ika-squid boats in a small harbor, there is a small (free) parking lot here.
From the carpark or souvenir shop, follow the arrows through the tunnel - as you walk through the cool and damp tunnel listening to the sound of waves, it feels like you are tunneling right through a wave.
Exit the other side to a wide view of cliffs on the right, a small beach and an expanse of flat-rock in front of you. Great to explore the tidal pools, come with kids or hang out at the secret beach.
