Hakotsukuri Beach - Pichi Pichi Beach — Attraction in Hannan

This is a man made beach so there is no sound of waves here and you don't get the feeling of a natural beach. The sand is very uncomfortable to walk on as it's full of small stones, which are hard on your feet.The water is sometimes very dirty and full of jellyfish even during summer swimming season. The swimming experience here is not great but the park itself is good for BBQs and picnics. The carpark is expensive and closes at 5pm. The staff can get very annoying especially when they make you stop barbecuing at 3pm and turn off the water. When I first came to Japan I used to visit this beach a lot but after many bad experiences with staff, jellyfish and urchins I haven't visited for many years instead I tend to go to Shirahama or Isonoura beaches in Wakayama instead as they both have much nicer sand and water quality.
