Penguin Hills — Attraction in Higashimatsuyama

You can get up close and personal with the penguins. They are free to roam around their enclosure and they often walk right up to you. Thanks to the glass front on their water feature you can also see them clearly when they are swimming.

You can feed the penguins at two different times during the day. This is a popular attraction and they only give out a number of cups a day, so it is advised to arrive about 15 minutes before feeding time to get a cup. One cup costs 300 yen. The feeding times are 10.15 am and 1.30 pm on the days the zoo is open (which is Tuesday to Friday except in January and February when the zoo is often closed on Tuesdays too).

There is often a food van selling crepes and karaage at the foot of the hill that leads to the penguin enclosure. There are toilets beside this...

チリに生息するフンボルトペンギンの世界最大級の生態園！

緊急事態宣言中の土日ということで、予約していきました。

動物公園に入ったら真っ先にここへ。

まずは大きなプールで元気に泳ぐペンギン達を観察。

腕輪の色で名前やカップルの関係がわかるように表が貼ってあります。

♀が集まっているところや、独身♂が集まっているところがあったりして面白い。

ゲートの中に入るとなんと！すぐ極近くにペンギン達がお出迎え。

氷の上にいるイメージだけど、流石フンボルトペンギン、温帯が快適なよう。

カップルが（ペンギンの）ペアでたたずんでいてほっこり。

ジャンプしながら泳いだり陸に上がってこっちに近づいてきたりなんとも楽しませてくれました。

裏の丘で巣を作って住んでいるよう。今は丘の方にはいけなかったけど、普段はいけるのかな？

丘とプールを行き来するペンギンも見れるそうなのでいつか見てみたい！

そしてご飯の時間も1日2回あるそうなのでこれもまたこんど。
