About this place: Ishigaki Island Limestone Cave is a natural wonder carved over 200,000 years, famous for its wild, imaginative rock formations like creatures, Buddha figures, and even Totoro shapes. Each turn reveals new surprises, and the cave extends much deeper and wider than most limestone caves across Japan. ——————— Scene and views: The interior is vast, featuring dramatic stalactites and stalagmites illuminated by vibrant rainbow lights. Some sections look like sculpted curtains or pillars, blending white calcite with colorful reflections for astonishing visual appeal. ——————— Atmosphere Walking inside feels almost magical, with cool, humid air enveloping visitors as ambient lights and shadows build a dreamlike mood. Natural silence and themed installations amplify both relaxation and curiosity. ——————— Recommendation: Ideal for families, solo travelers, and anyone with an active imagination – the cave is a creative playground for visual exploration. Art lovers and photographers will especially appreciate the spectacle and endless shapes inviting interpretation. ——————— Overall review: Compared to other caves in Japan, Ishigaki’s formation variety and scale stand out – it’s easy to lose track of time exploring all the nooks. The cave could be even more popular with improved design and modern touches, but its raw nature offers a refreshing authentic experience. Unforgettable for anyone who enjoys discovering the extraordinary hidden beneath the...

This was my first time walking through a cave, and I was amazed by every angle of this cave. The salt crystals glisten & you feel like you’re in a magical space.

What a memorable experience. You can take a professional photo inside by their staff and it turns out great.

If you are tall, just be careful as there are many spots that droop down and can cut you / you can hurt your head on if you are not paying attention.

You don’t need to buy tickets ahead of time. I think it costed us not even $10 at the front if I’m not mistaken.

You can walk through the entire thing within 30 minutes give or take & there are many possibilities for taking photos.

Near the end, there are many stairs to climb up which made a great workout just to be ruined by the Okinawan ice cream shop as soon...

We went on a Sunday afternoon and we were alone all the time at the cave. A bat started to chase us so we started to run away and my glasses fell over. Because there was no worker inside the cave we tried calling to the emergency phones available, but they didn’t work. At this point we were so afraid we just decided to go back to the beginning and left without finishing the whole route. We asked the two workers at the entrance if they could go to get my glasses, but they didn’t want to go alone so my husband had to go with on of them inside again. I think 1200 yen for this poor service is not worth it. If you don’t have any workers available you should just no open, or at least have a better emergency system that...

It's really cool to see. The price is roughly $12 - $14 (Maybe $10 American & $11 - $12 Canadian) There a sign and a small hut to the left of the parking. Pay there and proceed up the path. There is nice flowers along the way to the entrance. Please be mindful of your step. Steps maybe a little slippery. Once you're in it's laid out pretty well. Just follow the arrows and the areas are decently lit. Once you exit, you'll be by another building and that's where you can buy souvenirs, get some great Okinawan ice cream, and maybe enjoy a meal. There is a restaurant section (still was closed because of covid) and it looks pretty good. Had an enjoyable time here and very cool seeing the formations underground. 😱👍👍
