Sukuji Beach — Attraction in Ishigaki

Very nice beach, with nets to protect swimmers from jellyfish. There are showers ( at a symbolic price of 100¥) and small stalls selling anything from swimming trunks ( I got one there, as I forgot mine in the hotel) to bento boxes, shaved ice cones and drinks. Pretty public beach easily accessible from Ishigaki Seaside Hotel. I believe there is also public parking nearby (not from the hotel).

Fair warning it's not very sandy except at low tide. At high tide it's really shelly/rocky and you've gotta watch out for coral and larger hermit crabs. But at low tide you can walk out pretty far and find some starfish, crabs, and small fish...

I would call this “hermit crab paradise”. Literally hundreds of scuttering hermit crabs, really fun for time lapse videos and having them break sticks with their claws....
