Yōkō Gushiken Memorial Hall — Attraction in Ishigaki

石垣市街地から離れたところにある、元プロボクサー・具志堅用高氏の数々の記録・授与品・ボクシングの愛用品が展示されている小さな記念館です。一見するとやや大き目な一軒家という外観で、記念館であるという分かりやすいサインが無ければ完全に通り過ぎたかもしれません。駐車場も、3～4台程度のみのスペースであることに注意が必要です。 展示スペースは1階と2階にあり、授与品や彼の活躍の記録が鑑賞できるのは2階ですが、2階への昇降は階段のみとなり、車椅子等の障碍を持つ方の利用は不向きだと思います。ほぼ全ての展示品は鑑賞のみで、手に取ったり着替えたり出来る品は皆無です。展示品を鑑賞しつつ周遊するだけであれば30分程度の広さです。具志堅氏の往年の栄光を再び感じ取りたい人には垂涎の記念館だと思いますが、興味のない人にはあまり面白くないかもしれません（フロアにある程度のスペースはあるものの、展示されている品が貴重なものが多いだけに、来館者に楽しんでもらうだけのイベント開催は難しいでしょう）。 2階の展示室にあるモニターには、プロボクサーであった彼の往年の活躍が映し出されます（人がいることで上映されるセンサー式モニターのようです）。往年の彼の活躍を知っている人からすると、じっと見入ってしまうかもしれません。

Located away from Ishigaki city center, it's a small memorial hall where many records, awards, and favorite boxing items of a former professional boxer, Yoshitaka Gushiken are displayed. At first glance, it looks like a rather large house, and if it were not for the easy-to-understand sign that says it is a memorial hall, you might have passed it by completely. Note that the parking lot has space for only three or four cars. The exhibition spaces are located on the first and second floors, and it's on the second floor that you can view the many exhibits of awards and records of his activities, but the stairs are the only way up to the second floor, which is not suitable for visitors with disabilities, such as wheelchairs. Almost all of the exhibits are for viewing only, and there are no items that can be picked up or worn. If you just want to walk around and admire the exhibits, you can do so in about 30 minutes. It's a coveted memorial museum for those who want to feel again the glory of Gushiken's past, but it may not be very interesting for those who are not interested (although there is some space on the floor, it would be difficult to hold events for visitors to enjoy the exhibits, since many of them are valuable items). The monitor in the second floor exhibition room shows his activities as a professional boxer in the past (it seems to be a sensor-type monitor that is shown depending on the presence of people).
