Beautiful! Although the Hondo is under construction currently, it has plenty to admire. I hope to come back one day in the fall when the 800 year old ginkgo tree wears its yellow leaves. Even in the winter it is stunning to look at

Der Jizo-ji Tempel ist ein Juwel auf Shikoku. Betritt man den Tempelplatz, wird man sofort von einer äußerst friedlichen Aura umhüllt, die diesen heiligen Ort durchdringt. Besonders bemerkenswert ist der alte, majestätische Baum, der im Herzen des Tempelgeländes steht. Seine beeindruckende Präsenz und die Ruhe, die er ausstrahlt, laden zum Innehalten und Meditieren ein. Es ist, als ob der Baum die Geschichten und Gebete von Generationen in sich trägt und diese friedliche Energie an alle Besucher weitergibt. 第5番札所 無尽山 荘厳院 地蔵寺 （むじんざん しょうごんいん じそうじ） 真言宗御室派の寺院で、本尊は延命地蔵、胎内仏・勝軍地蔵菩薩（伝弘法大師作）。開基は弘法大師で、創建は弘仁12年（821）。 昨年暑い8月に四国遍路を思い立ち、8月6日から巡礼を開始して2日目。雨降る中でのお遍路旅で暑さの影響なく助かりましたが、すぐに靴の中はびしょびしょになり、開始早々に長靴を購入。大日寺からは約20分ほどの距離。地蔵寺は五百羅漢で有名なお寺。 徳島の前半は密集しており1日で結構回れる。次の安楽寺の宿坊に宿泊予定。 以下は四國八十八ケ所巡礼會サイトより。 嵯峨天皇（在位809〜23）の勅願により、弘仁12年弘法大師が開創された。大師は、自ら約5・5センチの勝軍地蔵菩薩を彫られ、本尊に安置したと伝えられる。その後、淳和天皇（在位823〜33）、仁明天皇（在位833〜50）の3代にわたり天皇家が篤く帰依された。さらに紀州・熊野権現の導師を務めていた浄函上人が霊木に延命地蔵菩薩像を刻み、その胎内に大師作の勝軍地蔵菩薩を納められたとも伝えられている。この勝軍地蔵菩薩の信仰からか、源頼朝、義経をはじめ、蜂須賀家などの武将たちが多くの寄進をしている。これらの寄進により寺領は拡大し、阿波、讃岐、伊予の3ヶ国におよそ300を数える末寺ができ、塔頭も26寺にのぼったと伝えられる。 しかし、天正年間（1573〜92）の長宗我部元親による兵火で、これらの堂塔はことごとく灰燼に帰した。その後、歴代の住職や僧侶、信者たちの尽力により堂宇が整備拡充され、いまでも寺領は40,000平方メートル（12,000坪）にもおよぶ古刹である。本堂左の参道をとおり、石段をのぼったところが奥の院で、ここが羅漢堂である。安永4年（1775）の創建で、五百羅漢堂とされていた。だが、大正4年参拝者の失火で罹災、いまは200ほどの等身大羅漢像がさまざまな喜怒哀楽の表情で並んでいる。境内の大銀杏。樹齢は800年を超え、母なる大木につつまれ歴史が刻まれている。

大きなイチョウがあり紅葉の時期に楽しめる地蔵寺は5番札所になります　拝観料200円かかりますが時間がありましたら奥院の五百羅漢にも行かれたら良いかと思います。御本尊釈迦如来の他、日陰になる回廊内に羅漢像が並んでいます。また紅葉の時期に来るつもりです　Jizo-ji Temple, which has a large ginkgo tree and can be enjoyed during the fall foliage season, is number 5.
