Tarosugi Cedar — Attraction in Izu

It’s a marvelous tree at the end of an easy but enchanted hike. I went on a very early morning hike and had the whole woods to myself—it felt mystical. How to reach the tree: Park your car at the nearby michi-no-eki Amagigoe and follow the Odoriko trail beginning near the info center. (Also, remember to fill up your water bottle with the incredibly fresh spring water there.) At a certain point, you will reach the river and cross the bridge. The tree itself is impressive, but it’s fenced off so you can only see it at a distance. It would have been nice to get closer, b it I understand that it’s important to protect it...
