Joyo Gorigori-no-Oka (Kyoto Prefectural Kizugawa Sports Park) — Attraction in Joyo

The park is in the middle of an industrial looking area, space is wide but nothing special. I went to the Tanabata Sky Lantern Festival held in this park and I must say it was not worth the ticket price or the time spent travelling there. The event was pretty lame for the lack of a better word. There was some food trucks, not much options if you’re vegetarian unless you count sweet shaved ice as a meal. And the game stalls that were there, there was a total of 6 counters with different games but you’d have to buy tickets to play. One would think that for the price one has paid for entry you’d expect to have some activities that is communal and free to get the energy going but it all just feels like a sponsored event that is highly commercialized to make as much money as possible.

There was a stage with some performers but it was boring and the lineup is uninspiring and lacking energy. Maybe it’s just this event but it felt like everyone stayed because they paid for a ticket and they are committed to fly their lanterns that night, no matter how painfully boring it is. We left the event early and set our lanterns in a corner for two lucky souls who wanted one but did not have one as part of ticket price. Yes, you have to pay extra if you want to fly the lanterns on top of your ticket entry. It’s ludicrous. I feel a bit foolish dragging my family to this event as part of our Kyoto trip but oh well,...

Its a magical night for me 🥰 watching those lantern on the sky feels like heaven. It’s in the middle of the massive park you don’t have to purchase the ticket as you can see it from outside but if you prefer to experience the latern...

梅雨の時期で雨予報だったのに曇り☁️で汗まみれになることもなく過ごせた♡

チケットを早めに取っておいて良かった。 3連休の土曜日だから1番人気らしく直前に見ると販売停止してた。

敷地内駐車場🅿️も3000円で購入。 買っておいて良かった。 周りに駐車場少ないので…買っておけばいつ行っても安心なので時間気にしすぎ行けました♪ 帰りも警備員さんいるし混雑することなく帰れました。

夕方に到着したらお客さん入場入り口に並んでてスムーズに入れ何百人の方々がいるんだろう😳 っていうくらい人数多かったですが場所が広いので窮屈感はなかったです。

ランタン本当感動して涙出そうなほどキレイだった😍

持って行ったほうが良いなと思ったのは、レジャーシート。 椅子がほぼ置いてないし、数に限りがあるので。 もちろん売ってるけど2人座れるサイズ300円でした。2枚購入。車で行ったので持っていけば良かったねってなりました。
