Marine port — Attraction in Kagoshima

Clean port indeed! There are English maps that they are handling out on the information. We also had a chance to bump some highschoolers who sells matcha mochi and were so nice! I think they are also filming it for their local tv station. I’d say there was a language barrier at first but some of the students speak good English so when they ask us to try, we did not hesitate to do so!

We didn’t try to take cab going to attractions (even though we carry 2 big luggage), as there were long lines coming from Cruise passengers. We walked from Port to the nearest JR line (going to Chuo Station), it took us a good 1 hr & 10 mins on walk.

A good view of steaming Sakurajima and...

Really nice port! It's got an amazing view of Mount Sakurajima, a very active volcano. There's lots of parking and taxi service right at the port building. There's a large field where one can play sports or run around a track. This is a very planned port and it's very well laid out. The only drawback is it's a long walk to town. Our cruise ship docked here. We were impressed that such a large green space was available for the citizens. Good place to do people watching as we saw lots of people pushing their pets around in strollers or in costumes. There are some decent food trucks to sample local cuisine before you enter the cruise terminal. It looked like a great place to take a walk. Views of the active volcano were...
