A very famous shrine in Saga Prefecture. Super picturesque, beautiful and big! Before entering the Shrine ground there's a touch panel screen TV nearby the water basin (Chozuya) which contains all the information, rules and history of the Shrine that you know beforehand. There's language translation available for the touch panel.
It would be advised to wear something comfortable and shoes since there will be some hiking action. As you go up the stairs and ascended more and more there's going to be a mini hiking trail probably around 1KM with small steep stairs rocks to go to the top of the hill.
Once you've reach the top, you are blessed with a beautiful view of the surroundings mountains and a glimpse of the Ariake sea.
Probably one of the fanciest and beautiful shrine I've ever visit. The architectural and design of the Shrine is definitely breathtaking and superb!
There's a mini street nearby the Shrine vicinity that is filled with street vendors. You could walk along the street and have a look on the gifts, drinks and food that they sell. However because of COVID some of the vendors shop aren't open.
Public transportation are available to go to the Shrine. You just need to take the bus from Kashima Bus Station or you could rent a city bike to explore Kashima...
