Sanyo Garden Riding Club — Attraction in Kawasaki

I love Sanyo Garden. I joined the club 2 months ago and have done 25 lessons so far.

Things I love: Small class sizes based on capability: It's only 2-4 people at a time. For beginner classes, it's either just you or you and one other person (you can sign up for a private lesson by paying for two lessons, but if you don't and no-one else signs up for your time slot, it becomes a private lesson without any extra charge).

Reasonably priced: Multiple regular / guest membership options, and all of them are very reasonable considering the location and level of service. I pay ~3,500 yen per lesson on weekdays as a full-time member, with a fixed 8,800 yen monthly membership fee (there's also an annual fee that needs to be paid based on the number of years you sign-up for/renew, but these are also very reasonable compared to other clubs - only downside is you have to continue renewing; there's no one-time membership fee option).

Junior classes: Kids can start here from 1st grade elementary school students. They have set time-slots for the Junior class, but you can also sign up for a private lesson anytime of the week (requires that you pay for two lessons). They also don't have membership fees - you can just buy Junior class lessons, which are 4,400 yen each when you pay for 10 at a time. My daughter is already making great progress and looks forward to her next lesson whenever she finishes.

Chill: The stables are open to the public - you can bring your kids and feed carrots to the thoroughbreds (carrots and coffee available at the front desk). The buildings are really cool and there's a patio on top of the club house.

Easily accessible by train: 5 minute walk from Kurihira, which has express access to Shin-Yurigaoka, Noborito, Shimo-Kitazawa, and Shinjuku.

Potential downsides: British dressage only: No Western, jumping, cross country or endurance. But, as dressage is the foundation for the others, this is a great place to get started if you're new.

Japanese only...maybe?: The staff will throw in English words every once in a while and some of the other members speak English, but I don't know what level they'd be able to accommodate to - no harm in asking, I guess?

Reservation rush on Friday @ 8:30am: Reservations can only be made by phone for the week that opens up 2.5 weeks from that day. Tuesday is their regular day off, so Wednesday through Monday is the 'week' they open for reservations. They have two phones going, but it's a fight to get through and most of the weekend morning / Junior spots get eaten up quickly. Weekdays are much easier to get into. The clubhouse itself opens at 8am, so I've found the best thing to do is schedule a lesson for 9am on Friday and go early to have my pick of the litter.

Summary: This is a great club. The members are really nice and I really see myself improving. Some of the staff may be a little intimidating at first (having no experience and it being my first riding club, I was SO intimidated and almost didn't join, but SO glad I did). It was good. I was able to have a lesson as a foreigner. (It was held in Japanese). They can lend you a helmet and boots but the boots were unfomfortable for me - too high. But other than that it was a good experience. The horse was nice and the stables were also very nice - wooden stables. And there were 3 of us at the lesson. It's very curious that in Japan middle-aged people often try riding but in my country - Czech republic - it's small children and also young people who ride the...

以下長文🙏 1番下も含め、ある程度通ったクラブ5つのうち値段に見合わず酷すぎる。こんなとんでもない所に高額なお金と貴重な時間を無駄にして不快感だけが残り、トラウマと後悔しかない。

広い馬場で軽速歩もあり質問できそうな雰囲気だったのは最初だけ、次からは怖い位狭い丸馬場で常歩。 挨拶も無視、笑顔も無い、目も合わせない、は？とバカにした反応、ため息が大きいHさん（同じイニシャルの女性の方）自ら、2人1組で入る相手の客に「【できない人←私】のせいで（底辺の）下の丸馬場だけど、◯◯さんはできてますから気にしないでください」と言っている。 「3秒で馬との勝負に負けた人は【もう二度とこの先一生】馬のリーダーにはなれません」「【一生無理】あともう100回来てもできるようにならない」1日に2枠分の予約が入ると「来ても【意味ない】」等兎に角全否定。 爬虫類みたいな冷たい目、高圧的でケンカ越し、わざわざ嫌な言葉を選んで否定しかしない、こんな人からネガティブシャワーを浴びて萎縮する目的ではなく、やり方やどうやったらできるかを習う為にお金と時間を使っているのが客です。（クレインからの移籍者は最低B以上からのスタートでこの方を避けられる）

レッスンは2人で40分間常歩で回りくどく責めるネチネチ屁理屈を聞き、最後の5分で1人ずつ、時計回りか反対側か指示された方向に走りそうになったら止めるを狭〜い丸馬場2周だけで終了。 2回この◯田さんが「●▲さん←私には【まだまだ到底無理】なんですけど、他のイントラの都合で馬が〜」といつもの蔑むような嫌な目付きで、ひとつ上のレベルの馬を出してきた。 何もなかったが【到底無理な馬】をクセや対処方法も教えずに偉そうに【一生無理】な客に出した事は安全面でも問題😠でプロじゃない。

私はここに来る前に2つのクラブで順番が回ってこないのに返金も振替も無かったり、イントラ2名がかりでも1周も回せない馬を当て続けられたり、定員オーバーで無視されるレッスンだから、最初に具体的にやり方を教えて欲しい、丁寧な指導を希望と受付でも相談した。本人も読んだと答えたが「前のクラブを擁護する訳じゃないけど【できない人】には教えませんよ【教える価値がない】から」とまで言われた。ひとつ前の数珠繋ぎで声掛け無しの方が、広い馬場で沢山走らせて貰えるし否定でやり込められない分、ここより遥かにマシだった。

↓レッスンとは関係ない 6匹位のノーリードの犬達がクラブハウス内や着替えスペースを走り回っていて、犬アレルギーが出てしまいました。周りに誰もいないタイミングで、角が立たないように私の方が次回の予約をずらしたいと内緒で受付で相談したところ、何と飼主達グループに直接伝えたと😳 更に「皆さん良い方。犬アレルギー？変な人。そんな変わった人も世の中にはいるんですねって言ってくれた」と笑顔で嫌味を言われました😳 馬は敏感な生き物と知りながらイベントでもないレッスンに飼犬達を連れてくる時点で非常識です。しかも、自分達のレッスン中にノーリードで共用スペースに野放し放置。その迷惑を被りアレルギーが出てしまった客とどちらが【変な人】なんでしょうかね？ 馬や周囲への配慮も無い、自分の犬の安全も考えない、非常識で無責任な飼主達にもこの女性にもビックリ😳 その後荷物置場のラックが空いているのに、私のバッグだけが床に移されて、元の位置に犬のケージが置かれていた事が...
