Great little museum, that I spent about 2 hours at. The special exhibition and 20 minute movie are all in Japanese but they have made a great effort to translate the main exhibition into English (but you do need a smartphone to see it). I would really recommend watching some of the videos of Jomon cooking which are a bit of a parody of all the Japanese cooking shows. They have also managed to contextualise the Jomon time period giving me a great sense of when it was all happening, which I feel sometimes gets lost in museums. Houses of several cultural periods have been rebuilt, especially focusing on the large settlement found here from 9500 years ago. This is one of the, if not the, largest settlement discovered from the Jomon period in Japan. The museum is very interesting and impressive, and provides an in-depth guide accessible by smart phone.
