Chikurinji Temple, number 31 on the 88 temple pilgrimage path around Shikoku. The name for pilgrimage in Japanese is Henro. It can be started anywhere along the trail which skirts around the coast line of Shikoku. This pilgrimage is said to resolve health issues and mental distress for the participant. The pilgrims are often dressed in a white yukata with pointed straw hat and a walking stick. Most of this gear can be bought at various points along the 88 temple henro path. Chikurinji is a delightful temple with beautiful peaceful gardens and multiple shrines scattered throughout the temple complex. There is a wonderful union between human structures and nature where both compliment each other. You can buy fortunes there at the main court yard of the temple complex , but they are all in Japanese and you would have to get the reading translated.
