A bit tricky to find but it's worth it. The few rooms that compose this museum will take you between half and an hour. You can rent a tablet flashing QR code to have the explanations in English for ¥100. It presents efficiently the geological and ethnographic aspects...

晴れていても訪問の価値あり。 大人も子どもも楽しめそうな学術施設。 島の成り立ち、文化、生き物など総合的に学べます。 6,500人ほどの島にしては立派というか、整っている印象。 訪問時は子ども向けのイベントをしており、にぎやかでした。 入館料がなんと200円、安い！ しかもいい意味で時間が潰せるというか、展示物が充実しています。 さらに販売されている仲里村史が1,000円とこれまた安い！ 内容充実、トランクに押し込んで２冊買わせて頂きました。 また外の広場には豚小屋（といっても石造り）があるのですが、小屋の手前に穴が開いています。 案内して頂いた地元出身のタクシーの運転手さんによると、昔は豚小屋がトイレで…それ以上は各自お調べください。 なんにしても、今と違って昔は生きることが大変だったのです。 そんなことまで教えてくれる施設でした。

初めて久米島を訪れましたがあいにくの雨(豪雨)気持ちを切り替えて観光をしました😅 博物館では丁度回覧展として「ひめゆり学徒隊」の 催し物が開催されていました。 20年以上前に沖縄本島を訪れた際にひめゆりの塔を 見学して以来でしたが忘れては行けないものがあるなと再認識しました。 久米島の歴史も展示物を通して学ぶことが出来ました。　　小高い丘にあるので雨ながら海の綺麗な景色も見れました。
