宇江城城跡は、久米島の最高峰・標高約310メートルに位置する城跡で、沖縄グスク時代の面影を色濃く残す歴史遺産です。頂上からは360度の大パノラマが広がり、眼下には緑豊かな島の景色とコバルトブルーの海、遠くには粟国島や渡名喜島までも望めます。晴れた日には、はての浜の白砂もくっきりと見え、その絶景はまさに“天空の城”と呼ぶにふさわしい迫力です。 そして夜になると、この場所は久米島屈指の星空スポットに変わります。周囲に人工の灯りがほとんどないため、満天の星が頭上いっぱいに広がり、天の川や流れ星も肉眼で楽しめます。静寂の中、潮騒や風の音をBGMに眺める星空は、まるで天然のプラネタリウム。日中の絶景と夜の星空、どちらも体験することで、宇江城城跡の魅力を余すことなく味わえます。 駐車場や遊歩道が整備されており、アクセスもしやすいですが、夜間訪問の際は懐中電灯や足元の安全対策を忘れずに。
The Uegusuku Castle Ruins sit atop the highest point on Kume Island, about 310 meters above sea level, preserving the atmosphere of the Ryukyu gusuku era. There are metal steps leading to the upper levels. The castle walls are intact on the tall side and can be viewed as you walk to the upper level.
