This is a private property belongs to the founder of Aono.co. Behind this property is a mountain called Mt. Anyoji as well as Mt. Azalea. The mountain was regarded as a sacred ground to enshrine the spirit of a white snake and an old man with white hair representing imortality. Ever since the property was inherited Mr. Aono dedicated himself to develop this ground into its current state after learning about the history of this sacred ground. The place also enshrines the deity called Hachidai Ryuo ( Eight Dragon Kings ). Hakuryu-en writes as 白 = white 龍 = dragon 園 = garden. During spring and autumn this garden space is open to public exclusively to the ones who reserve the tickets in advance. The tickets are available at Demachi Yanagi Station where you can take Eizan Line. It is highly recommended that you get the tickets which includes 1-day pass for Eizan Line for 2,000 yen. The regular entrance fee to the garden is 1,600 yen. The entrance is limited to 100 people a day on first come first served basis. Hakuryuen is located in the south-east of...

Reservations are required to enter, which is easy to do through their website, and payment is made with...

While every rock is thoughtfully placed and every moss is thoroughly maintained, it never felt overly manicured. Note that it's not open year round so check their website. You also MUST book ahead, online, in Japanese (I got someone to help me with that...
