綺麗に整備された駐車場はとても広く、区画もゆったりしているので大きな車でも安心して停めることができます。駐車場はいくつか分かれており、たくさんの車が停められるため休日でも混雑を気にせず利用できるのが嬉しいポイントです。敷地内には子どもが夢中になるような昆虫や生き物を展示している博物館のような施設があり、家族連れにもぴったりです。さらに飲食店やキャンプ場も併設されているので、食事や宿泊をしながらゆっくり滞在できます。整備された散策路を歩きながら四季折々の景色を楽しむことができ、特に自然観察や写真撮影が好きな方にはおすすめです。ただし少し標高が高い場所にあるため、秋冬は気温が低く寒く感じることが多いので防寒対策をして訪れるのがおすすめです。

森林科学館の脇を抜けて甲府盆地を望む展望台へ。いつものようにお湯を沸かし、今日はカップ麺ではなく、アルファ米を炊き、コーヒーを入れて昼食。森林科学館に立ち寄り、説明を伺い、地図パンフをもらって、散策出発。まず南伊奈ヶ湖から。 白鳥君がお出迎えしてくれました。なかなか神秘的な湖面の高さ海抜８９０ｍ、櫛形山の中腹にある人造湖です。 すぐ隣にはこじんまりした菖蒲池があります。北伊奈ヶ湖は南伊奈ヶ湖に比べてちょっと小さめでこちらは釣りが許されている。湖畔の花もきれいでした。
