与謝野鉄幹と昌子の句碑が印象的。南薩摩で一番の眺望だと思います。

2024.1 開聞岳を見るに、絶好の位置にある「瀬平パーキング」が近くにある。開聞岳という、焼酎のTVCMで記憶している人も、まだ多いと思うが、知覧飛行場から特攻攻撃で出撃する軍用機が、先ずは第一の目視目標であったと知り、レンタカーで30分程の時間をかけて来てみた。
