We enjoyed walking across the bridge, but with the wind and the people walking it tends to sway a bit, so you might feel like you're taking a walk while a bit tipsy.
The views of Mishima and Suruga Bay were great but as it was a cloudy day Mt. Fuji couldn't be seen.
We paused on the bridge to watch the zip liners sail along the aip line. If you pause be cautious of people walking by and don't block the bridge for others.
The trails after the bridge are bordered by thousands of Hydrangea blossoms and the Hydrangea Festival runs through July 7th.
We wanted to try the tomato ramen at the Sky Walk restaurant but the one we wanted, the pescatore, was sold out. We went back to the entrance area for lunch instead. An okay lunch, but nothing special. I tried the soft cream ice cream that is supposed to have more of a butterfat content than normal soft cream, but I really couldn't tell much difference. If you want the blue color soft cream it's only available by the bridge, not down at the main entrance. The staff told me it has the same flavor and the only difference is the color.
The zip lines were busy as was the aerial walk, which is open to all ages.
Here and there you can spot little wooden egg shaped sculptures, some with writing on them, some with smiley faces. I saw them for sale as blank sculptures so I'm guessing you can write your wish, or a comment, or draw a face on them and leave them by the trail (or take them home).
We went by car and it's about a 100-minutes drive from Tokyo. They have buses running from the Mishima train station, too, if you're not driving.
If you're looking for a nice day outing, or something to do with the kids, it's a good...
Read moreYamashita Park in Yokohama is a beautiful, serene and historic park located along the waterfront. The park is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, and it's easy to see why. The lush greenery, open spaces, and scenic views of the Yokohama Bay and the iconic Marine Tower make it an ideal destination for relaxation and recreation.
The park was built in 1930 and named after a prominent businessman and philanthropist named Juzo Yamashita. The park was destroyed during World War II, but it was later rebuilt and is now one of the most visited tourist attractions in Yokohama. The park features a number of interesting landmarks, including a rose garden, a small pond, and several sculptures.
One of the most impressive features of Yamashita Park is the Marine Tower, which stands at 106 meters tall and offers a stunning panoramic view of Yokohama Bay. The tower is illuminated at night, creating a beautiful sight that can be enjoyed from the park or from nearby areas.
Visitors to Yamashita Park can also take a stroll along the promenade, which stretches along the waterfront and offers spectacular views of the bay and the surrounding area. The park also has a playground, a small amusement park, and several food vendors, making it an excellent destination for families with children.
