Aragusuku Beach isn’t the most stunning beach in Miyakojima, but it definitely has its own charm — especially if you’re hoping to see sea turtles. I was lucky enough to spot three swimming together while snorkeling! (Sadly, I only have GoPro footage, no pics.) I also saw a huge pufferfish.
Parking isn’t free, but it’s organized, and you can also rent a table, chairs, and an umbrella at a reasonable price. I rented a life vest from a friendly guy in the parking lot — he also shared some great tips about other beaches around the island, which was super helpful.

Read moreThe beach is filthy and littered with garbage but that’s not what we were here for. We came to see turtles and it delivered! They are on the far left side from the entrance, past the sandy banks. We saw 4 different turtles munching on seagrass in the morning. There are lots of fish too and they swim really close to you. The titan triggerfish are absolute units.
There are pay-to-use shower stalls and a few free parking spots so go early. The paid lot costs 2000yen. There’s a little shack that rents out snorkeling gear by the parking lot.
