The Mizunami city fossil museum is an interesting educational place to take your (Japanese speaking) kids. There are multiple fossils to look at, many of which were discovered locally, and a few interactive activities for kids to try out (mostly touchscreens and microscopes).
It’s not a large museum and there aren’t all that many exhibits but when combined with the other three museums nearby it’s worth coming to see this part of Mizunami.
Each museum costs ¥200 per adult (children free) or all four museums for ¥700. If you partake in the Stamp Rally (stamps are found in the entrance of each museum) it will give you a year pass to enter the museums again...
