It’s a very big museum and you will need at least 2 to 3 hours to finish. The museum takes you through the complete history of Iwate prefecture. Many real things were exhibited at the museum. The Hidamari cafe has a good menu, the tempura udon and udon rice set was so delicious. They have speciality deserts and ice cream too.

The museum had various exhibits ranging from the Geology to Biology to History and Folklore of Iwate Prefecture, and a nice temporary exhibit on the fauna of Iwate. It’s interactive, there are a lot of buttons you can press in several rooms, they have stamps in case you like to collect them, at the entrance and about half way through. They also have lockers where you can leave your belongings and enjoy the tour comfortably. We went on a Sunday and it wasn’t crowded at all.
