It’s a very big museum and you will need at least 2 to 3 hours to finish. The museum takes you through the complete history of Iwate prefecture. Many real things were exhibited at the museum. The Hidamari cafe has a good menu, the tempura udon and udon rice set was so delicious. They have speciality deserts and ice cream too.

We took a bus from Higashikuroishino bus stop and got down in Iwate prefectural Museum stop. (It’s pretty closer to the dam). It’s better to take bus as Google maps route was...

Even though located a bit further away from Morioka City than other attractions, this one is a nice hidden gem. The museum had various exhibits ranging from the Geology to Biology to History and Folklore of Iwate Prefecture, and a nice temporary exhibit on the fauna of Iwate. There was a guide (thank you Kanako-san!!) who was super patient and explained everything to me in English over the course of 3 hours. I had a great time at the museum! Highly recommended in everyone's...

This museum was very interesting and entertaining. It’s interactive, there are a lot of buttons you can press in several rooms, they have stamps in case you like to collect them, at the entrance and about half way through. They also have lockers where you can leave your belongings and enjoy the tour comfortably. We went on a Sunday and it wasn’t crowded at all. We paid ¥330 per person, which was nothing compared to all we saw inside. I really enjoyed...

A beautiful museum that’s also a great stop for Pokemon GO players. I didn’t get to finish every exhibit, so I’ll have to come back again sometime. They have some English descriptions as well as a study area and some interactive stuff for kids. Lots of history, fossils, geology, and more. Hopefully I can return in the spring and see the beautiful botanical gardens.
