Put this place on your itinerary! Excellent resort for powder, cruising, side-country, terrain park. It is slightly more expensive than the other Myoko resorts but the cost is justified. Will definitely come back next season.

Recommended for: Powder hunters, park riders, cruising

PROS: Snowfall and cold temps = good powder Lots of terrain park items Side-country skiing is OK Big open runs for cruising or beginners (enough space to avoid crowds) Smooth lift system & no lineups Excellent views on a clear day

CONS: Some good drops here and there but terrain wasn't overly steep Traffic on beginner runs...but OK since it's large enough for everyone Not much else to do...recommend staying in Akakura nextdoor (just a few km away)

Visited on March 11, 2017 and had an absolute blast (9 AM - 5 PM). The temps were colder than other resorts (low of -9, high of -3) which helped keep the snow quality more consistent throughout the day. The powder at the top was really amazing (though a tad heavy at times) and held out through the day.

Terrain parks (there were at least 2 of them) include a (smaller) half pipe in addition to a ton of different kickers, rails, etc. They also have a long wave run/beginners park elsewhere that was tons of fun.

Beginners and intermediates will love the long open runs, park riders will enjoy the variety of the items offered and enjoy advanced riders will enjoy opening up new paths in the powder without worrying about losing...

It certainly has beautiful terrain and amazing snow at least during my visit. All the employees I saw were nice and smiled back when I smiled and said hello.

But unfortunately the best terrain is blocked by ropes that nobody pays any attention to. Why it's roped off is beyond me. There needs to be a serious reevaluation of how they handle their terrain. Nobody respects ropes and this normalization of deviance is not good.

Nobody respects the ropes because they are still working with a 1990s standard operating procedure for terrain management.

What the Prince does with the money he collects daily is a mystery to me. There is obviously no reinvestment in this resort. The newest thing on the lifts is the tape holding the bubble canopy together on the lifts. It's honestly just sad.

This unfortunately seems par for the course for so many resorts I've visited in Japan and this one is no different. I'm not saying I want this resort to turn into Vail but at least show some pride in your...

After spending a brilliant day at Sugi a couple of days ago the disappointment could not have been bigger today. Arrived around 8:30am, queued to get the lift pass and noticed the gondola (connecting to the main upper part of the resort) is not running. We ask staff about it and they said not to worry they are preparing it and it should open soon. So we decided to stay. Big mistake. Hundreds of people were queuing for two 2-person chairlifts with very short runs. By midday the gondola was still not running. Then the announcement came that it will open at 1pm. Unfortunately it never opened at all so we wasted a whole day and our money for lift pass & rental. Highly disappointed. Would not recommend going unless you’re absolutely certain the...

Pretty good stretch. After you reach the base of the gondola with a ski lift the repeated area is covered by a 15min goldola ride and a long stretch back. There are several beginner/intermediate routes down the main slope to keep it interesting. The more intermediate/difficult slopes are another lift ride up. The plus point is definately that you get a longer slope to enjoy between gondola trips. The cons being only one area has toilets/restaurants.

Definitely my pick of the Myoko resorts, had an absolute blast here despite pretty low visibility. Tons of long groomers with inviting powder tree runs, snow was a little crispy the day which was perfectly fine for skiing but maybe less what snowboarders want. The view from the last lift across the mountains was spectacular. Slope-slide lunch at St. Anton restaurant is so perfectly Japanese. If you are only doing one day in Myoko, just go here.
