I think this is the closest outdoors ski resort from West Tokyo and super convenient to drive through the highway. We planned to spend a couple days and stayed at a hotel nearby. The parking lot is really big and costs 1000 yen but if you register as a Fujiten member, you'll only pay for the first time you go, from the 2nd time on, the parking is free, which is awesome. The membership card costs 500 yen and not only gets you free parking from the 2nd time on, but it also gets you a discount in their ski/snowboard skill, should you want lessons. My husband and I really had fun & there were hardly any queues at all to take the lifts. We had a hamburger & chips set each one for lunch and it was surprisingly good. The parking lot is really close to the slopes, unlike other resorts, so if you drive, it makes more sense just to change into your ski boots in the car put helmet/goggles/gloves on and just carry your skis/poles inside , there's no need to use their lockers (even though we passed through the locker session on our way in and it seems really big).
It's a small area, but it gets 5 stars from me due to the very easy access from West Tokyo and the very smooth process for buying lift passes, membership card.
Their business hours are from 8:30 pm to 16:30 pm and they also have night skiing/snowboarding, and they keep part of the area illuminated until 9:30 pm.
The only con is that they allow people who are not skiing or snowboarding (apparently for free) in and these people are just walking around not even watching where they're going, get in the way and even step on your skis if you're not watching, they let their kids run loose, they throw snow around and you might get hit with a snowball. They'd definitely should charge admission...
Read moreFujikanko-travel agency brought us here! The staffs are very nice and helpful.
The English website's interface is user-friendly. I am a Japanese-English spoken, but I feel the English one is easier to understand and I could easily find what I looked for, especially for booking a bus tour.
I was surprised that Fujiten provided some documents in several languages, including Thai and Indonesian. My Indonesian friend checked the Indonesian version and he said Fujikanko-travel (and Fujiten?) provided a good Indonesian! I believed a native Indonesian made it. Splendid!
Regarding the price, it was affordable enough, with 2,500 yen per person, we could enjoy a round trip by a very convenient shuttle bus, from Kawaguchi-ko station to Fujiten and the way back. The price is included a 1000 yen voucher which you can use in almost all Fujiten facilities! I used it to enjoy a very nice Japanese curry lunch.
Our trip was actually an "impromptu" one, we planned it about 3 days before the D-day based on information we read from the website. We found our trip was splendid! Fujiten is such a good place, everything went smoothly, we could use all the facilities we need, such as a coin locker (there are plenty of them!), snow sports items (we rented them), and automatic-coffee machine (I love Georgia Coffee!)
If you're a moslem or travelling with moslem friends, Fujiten provides a prayer room and non-meat meals.
We're gonna go back here again for another winter sports or perhaps enjoy a nice summer vibe!
P.S. Fujiten has a very good view...
Read moreJuly 2019 - I removed 1 star to my original review because even though the place is still great for mountain biking, the staff for rental and ticketing treat customer like Shxt. Take a rental bike, they will give you a ticket number and let You find the bike parked on the stand, without any further explanation and don't even expect them to set it for you.
My review is for the Summer MTB park version. Bring Your mountain bike or get an rental. They have Hardtails and Full supension bikes, mostly from Rocky Mountain or Kona. However, make a reservation in advance if you want to be sure to get the right one. At the end of the 2017 season I asked for a Full Suspension bike, but couldn't get one as they were said to be in too bad shape or battered. Their HT bikes are 1 speed only, but I was able to ride their black trails with them. The lift takes about 15 minutes to reach the top, and trails are approximately 2 km long. except the open grassy field slope rated green, they are all rated Blue and Black diamond, but frankly speaking, they are overrated, and they look more green and blue to me. In one day, I'm usually able to do about 10-12 rides before being exhausted. There is a very wide variety of trails, from the smooth "Roller Coaster" to the (volcanic) rocky trail "Dark Volcano". There are a few jumps too, but not allowed for rental bikes. This is a great place for beginner / intermediate riders, and fun for...
