*Foreigners are required to speak/understand Japanese at least conversational level for safety reasons. I tried the 90 minutes Jukai course (樹海 コース) for the first time. For this course, they offer pick up and drop off service from/to Kawaguchiko Station. My friends and I are beginners, but the staff guided us thoroughly. The instructor was really kind and friendly. Riding a Japanese horse through the forest with Mt. Fuji in the background is an amazing, refreshing, therapeutic and wonderful experience! The horses are very gentle and adorable. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves a bit of adventures in Japan🐴 Don’t forget to call them for reservations.

*for matter of personal safety the ranch asks that you have a minimum of conversational Japanese as none of the staff can speak English or other languages. This is a horse ranch that teaches Japanese equestrialism (washiki bajutsu 和式馬術) and martial arts/kobudo古武道 on horseback or bajobugei馬上武芸. The horseranch breeds and trains several indigenous horse breeds (kisouma, dosanko etc). I have been learning horseback archery and Japanese horseriding here for several years. Trekking is wonderful and the views of Mt Fuji are beautiful here.

Did the Yabusame Schooling and had the best time! It's quite a long lesson (7hr) so don't plan to do anything until after 5pm. They'll teach you riding basics of you don't know already and how to shoot too! However, you'll need to know Japanese as the instructors aren't familiar with other languages.
