A lovely piece of Niigata culture just north of Niigata city. The entire location pays homage to a previous age, from the rice storage and traditional kitchens, to the expansive tatami rooms rich with history, to the well-tended wisteria gardens that flourish in late spring, this Northern Culture Museum is an education in traditional Japanese cultural practice. Even in winter, the main garden was spectacular, but if you want to see incomparable beauty, I would recommend mid-autumn or during the spring when there are cherry blossoms, but just exploring the grounds and many rooms in the museum was an edifying and...

A bit disappointing since this place has so much to offer We were a week late for the 藤花 a 250 year old grand tree that just passed the week of blossom. There are less spectacular cousins in the backyard . The granary is conveyed to a quirky museum holding artifacts from China to Egypt to Persia to India. There is a calligraphy by the commander of the victorious Imperial navy from the Russo japanese war. The old wood building itself is of...

A rich collection of cultural highlights from the history of Japan and also some other countries. It's a very quiet place, especially on weekdays, and it helps you relax in a unique way while also helping you learn about the history and culture of Japan.

The layouts also reminded me of some of the parts of the Inazuma region in Genshin Impact, with I thought was also quite cool, so I'd also recommend it for any Inazuma...
