隠岐島前内海（島前カルデラ）と外海日本海を見渡せる絶景スポットです。展望所までの周辺一帯は現在でも多くの牛が放牧されています。隠岐島前では、中世期から近代まで牧畑（まきはた）という独特な輪転式農法が行われ、牧と畑を分けるための石垣「合垣（あいがき）」がこの周辺に残されています。展望台までは緩やかな階段を上っていきますが、下りは草原の中を歩いて下りてきました。

西ノ島町では、強い風のことを「鬼」と呼んでいます。この場所は強い風が吹くことから「鬼」が「舞う」ということで、「鬼舞展望所」という名前がつけられそうです。駐車場から丘を上ると、東屋がある展望台まで行くことができます。日本海を一望できるだけでなく、遠く本州の山々を見ることができました。放牧地を進むので、牛の落とし物には注意してください。
