島郷海水浴場 — Attraction in Numazu

This could potentially be a beautiful beach that could attract tourists and help the development of the local economy. But it's not. Why? Because the beach is an open air garbage dump. Millions of pet bottles, cans, instant noodles packs and various plastic garbage stretch over the 2 kilometres of beach. This is a painful sight. Young people throw their bottles just in front of you like it was absolutely natural....

Absolutely lovely beach, visit on workdays in the evening. Sandy bottom, sandy beach, clean water, no floating grass garbage around. Though, no showers either nor places to change. That's a shame for such a great beach. Has a free parking at the back of protective sea wall. Can do a quick wash-up in the public toilet in the park next...

子供のころは、よく泳ぎにきました。その頃はもっと遠浅でした。浜からつづく防風林があり、景観が整っていたかと。人の住む場所、海がある場所の区切りがありました。日々通う中、自然を甘くみないことを教えてもらいました。いまの時代、護岸工事をしても、たぶんそれを超える災害は起こりえます。
