This was part of a nice day trip to the Ogose and Ogawa area. Went in late November, and this year the leaves were barely changed, which was the only disappointment. The falls are not huge -- the biggest is about 3-4 storeys -- but beautiful nonetheless. The valley is not well-lit at this season, though. 埼玉県西部、東上線沿線の観光地としては古くから有名なこの黒山三滝。 近くに住む者として、行ってみたいという衝動に駆られついに行ってみることにしました。 大して混んでいないだろうと高をくくっていたのですが、さすがにGW中盤午前11時に行ったのは舐めすぎていました。 駐車場はほとんど満車で入口付近で渋滞が発生。ただ、5分程度待つとなんとか駐車はできました。 それからおよそ40分後、帰る時には渋滞がなく、駐車場に空きが出始めていました。 普段ならたとえ休日であってもそこまで混んでいないことが推測できます。

駐車場の入口から滝まではおよそ700 mで、徒歩約10分程度です。 道中にはお土産屋さんや食堂もあり、観光地としての体裁は保たれています。 600 mほど進むと分岐があり、天狗滝に行く道と女滝・男滝に行く道に分かれます。

天狗滝の方に進んでみました この滝は3滝の中で落差最大、規模としてはかなり大きめの滝なのですが、水量がとてつもなく少なくどこか滑稽な感じでした。 せめて滝壺のそばまで近寄れればいいのですが、ここは近くまで行くことができません。仮に行ったとしてもあまり迫力を感じられないことでしょう。 雨天の翌日だとすごい迫力があるんだろうとは思いますが...
