Ogose Plum Grove — Attraction in Ogose

Ogose Bairin is one of Kanto's big three plum groves. The trees bloom from around mid February to Mid March. They hold a plum blossom festival during most of this period. On the weekends of the festival there are live performances, food stalls and a mini steam locomotive that winds through the trees. The town's mascot usually makes an appearance on weekends too.

Ogose Bairin. I visited twice, March 1st and 2nd. Parking ¥500, entrance ticket ¥400 per person. On Saturday, there were food stalls, music performance, singing, Japanese magic show, etc. People had a picnic under the plum trees. It was fun. The trees are getting old so the flowers are sparse. Very large number of plum trees in full bloom in mid March. Though it was a Friday many of the shops within the grove were open. Likely much more lively on the weekend.
