The World Children's Art Museum in Okazaki — Attraction in Okazaki

Five stars if you have kids with you, maybe a few less if you don’t. Then again, I didn’t and still had fun.

There isn’t a ton here to be fair. The free parts are small; outdoor playground, art-themed library (with a surprising number of foreign language books aimed at kids!), some interesting art in the forest next door.

The paid part is REALLY aimed at the small ones. It’s only ¥600, but you’ll have to decide it’s worth that small fee. When I went, it was a Brio exhibition: lots of small vehicles and sets for little kids (ages 2-5, maybe) to play with. The next room had fun - and challenging! - puzzle-based toys for all ages. Finally, there was some art - including an actual Picasso created when he was in his teens. My day also had a special exhibition of paper based 3D art that was cool.

I’d say it’s worth it. Don’t make a special trip from far away, but if you’re in/around Okazaki or going to be traveling to the area, it’s make a fun stop...

I took my 16 months old baby there. There are 2 cute playgrounds for kids. Also wide green area, a big plaza, tiny forest track with observatory. The museum holds several exhibitions at the same time, some are not free. Workshops for kids are also available.

You could kill a couple of hours easily with you kids there, even you don't do the museum tour. I would bring food for a nice picnic because the food court is really poor. Not enough nursery facility. There is only a simple diaper changing table at the toilet entrance in the museum, not even...

2025年2月祝日初訪問。 ★5つの素晴らしい場所ですね。ただ、正確には美術館と工作スペースの親子造形センターが一緒になった施設です。なので、展示スペースは別料金。工作スペースは工作の材料の代金が必要です。特筆すべきは工作スペースの方ですね。各種工作のレベルが高い。しかも破格。なので、子供用のクラフトスペースかと思って、行きましたが、普通に大人も参加できるレベルのクラフトスペースです。図工室みたいのが何部屋かあり、それぞれ工作のジャンルが違います。特に焼き物部屋は常滑や瀬戸でやると何千円かするところ、ここはタンブラーや皿レベルで750円と破格。大きくても1250円。釉薬まで、選択出来て同じデザインでも色味は全く別物のし上がり。焼き上がりは1月後くらいですので、取りに来るか宅配便の着払いで送ってもらうかです。利用方法はまず工作のジャンルによって部屋が違うので、作業スペースを確保してからチケット購入。荷物なんかは作業台のスペース下か、実質無料100円ロッカーもあります。作業時間があるので、お昼に困るなと先に東岡崎市東公園で食べましたが杞憂でした。ここにも食堂がありました。しかもカレー700円くらいでそれほど高くないので、地元じゃない組はちょうどお昼前後になりがちなのですが、昼飯を気にせず目的地に行けます。親子で工作ができるそんなスペースでした。焼き物ならデートで来ても遜色ない場所、ただ、子供多めで雰囲気は図工の授業（笑）コースターやアクセサリー系も作れるので、工作好きな大人が子供よりハマることもあると思いますね。また行きたい場所です。ちなみに美術館スペースはNゲージジオラマやプラレール実車走行会粘土細工で車の焼き物を作る作家さんの展示なんかもあり、子供美術館らしい展示でした。時間があればこちらもせっかくなのでぜひ見ていきましょう。 2025年4月約一月で着払いで届きました。県内なら1200円ほどですかね。高速でもう一度取りに行くよりは発送してもらったほうが助かりますね。厳重な梱包に感服です。出来上がりも750円とは思えぬ仕上がり。良い思い出になりますね。出来上がりも本格的なので親族へのプレゼントにも良いでしょう。カップルならお互いで交換...
