Rosoku-jima (Candle Island) — Attraction in Okinoshima

We were able to approach the rocks from the water side on a tour boat. It's all a bit "touristy" (6 boats leave the harbor at the same time!), but that probably can't be avoided in places like this. nice tour, interesting rock formations, nice boatman.

BUT the coastlines are extremely dirty (especially visible from the water side). Something urgently needs to be done here, especially the plastic and synthetic waste from the fishing industry (floats, nets, knickisters, wooden scaffolding, etc.) are very unsightly, something like this shouldn't happen in a nature reserve (sic!) like this. 隠岐の島町に行かれたら、ろうそく島遊覧船は、是非とも乗船して下さい。隠岐の島町では、一番の観光スポットではないかと思います。個人的には、2番目は、壇鏡の滝でしょうか。こちらは、滝の裏側に回って滝を眺めることが出来ます。 ろうそく島は、もちろん気候に影響されてしまいます。雲で太陽が遮られていたり、海が荒れている時は、無理ですね。 我々は、幸いにも台風後で晴れてくれました。 ろうそく遊覧船は、事前予約が必要です。大人3,000円/1人。小人半額。運行期間は、3月15日～11月30日となっているようです。乗船時間約50分。出発する港は、2ヵ所あり、福浦岸壁と赤崎岸壁で、乗船対象の船によって港が変わります。我々は、福浦岸壁からでした。待合室があります。港は、なぎでしたが、観光船からの情報では、外海は、結構、波があるとの事で、酔い止めを持って来てなかったので、待合所のコンビニで買おうとしましたが、売ってませんが、手持ちがあるとの事で、2錠もらえました。酔いそうな男二人が飲ませてもらいました。有難かったです。 ここからは、最大６隻が出航していました。陽の入りの高さに応じて出航時刻が変わります。 ろうそく島は、島後の北西の沖合いに海から約20メートルの高さで、細くそびえ立つ奇岩ローソク島。船長さんが、島の先端に夕日が重なるように操船してくれます。観光船の案内では、「その瞬間、まるで一本の巨大ローソクに火を灯したように輝く。船上からしか観ることの出来ないロマンチックで感動の一瞬」との事。まさにその通りでした。船長の操船能力の高さにも拍手喝采です。 観光船は、ろうそく島以外も、近くの海食によって開けられた洞窟や、奇岩があり...
