Sasaki Shrine — Attraction in Omihachiman

Our family’s visit to Sasaki Shrine in Ōmihachiman during the Sakura season was an unforgettable experience that left us all in awe. Nestled in the heart of Shiga Prefecture, this serene shrine was the perfect setting for a peaceful day surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of cherry blossoms in full bloom. The vibrant pink petals framed the shrine’s traditional architecture, creating a picturesque scene that felt like stepping into a postcard. The atmosphere at Sasaki Shrine was tranquil yet vibrant, with the delicate cherry blossoms fluttering gently in the breeze, adding a magical touch to our visit. We spent the day wandering the grounds, soaking in the spiritual ambiance and marveling at the historic significance of the shrine, which is deeply tied to the region’s heritage. The shrine’s welcoming vibe and the warmth of the local community made the experience even more special. The attention to maintaining the grounds was evident, with every detail enhancing the natural and cultural splendor of the site. 沙沙貴神社：祭神は少名彦命、大毘古神、仁徳天皇、宇多天皇、敦實（あつみ）親王です。こちらの神社は、この敦實親王の血を引く子孫（玄孫）がこの近江佐々木荘に下って以来、名門佐々木源氏の発祥の地です。こちらの神社～小脇町あたりに館があったようです。源平の合戦で、時の当主源秀義は、源義朝（頼朝の父）に敗れ、近江から相模の国に逃れます。その後、頼朝の挙兵に応じ、当主秀義と息子定綱らは功を立て、戦死した秀義に代わり秀綱は近江守護職にあたる惣追捕使に任命されます。しかし、承久の乱では上皇側についたため、一族は全ての守護職を失います。その後佐々木源氏は四氏に分かれ、うち六角氏がのちに近江守護職を継承し、信長に追われるまでこの地を守りました。沙沙貴神社（ささき）神社のＨＰによると、全国の佐々木さんが今もお詣りされるようです。 主な佐々木源氏： 佐佐木　佐々木　六角　京極　黒田　三井　大原　高嶋　篠笥　笹木　佐々城　 沙沙貴　尼子　伊庭　椙山　岳　朽木　和泉　山脇　田中　種村　鯰江　乃木　...
