Thursday 23 July thru Friday 24 July, 2020

Spent 2 days and a night on this sea beach campsite. Long beach, loads of people and families with tents, tarps, bbqs. There are a couple of places you can have a shower for 300 yen or so. One or two places to get food and drink too.. one place that did showers, and served food and drink, called ウェーブ (pronounced WHERE-BOO .. transliteration of English "WAVE"), had a few tables and chairs, and operated from about 10am till 6.30pm.

The day we arrived, the sea was choppy and off limits, but next morning a section of it was deemed safe for swimming, so we did. Nice temperature. People of all ages had a dip, kids with inflatables included.

The beach is reasonable sand, not stones. As it's sand, I think really good solid tent pegs are advisable. We had standard tent pegs which I wouldn't have held at all in the wind. A kind fellow camper gave us some cheap white canvas bags to fill with sand, and these served as weights at the end of the guy ropes/lines.. really effective.

Great place not...

Ranshima Beach is in a cove with beautiful mountain cliffs on either side of the shore. If shown a picture you wouldn’t guess it's in Hokkaido and not southern Japan. The water is clear and warm considering the location. Due to being in a bay the water is calm with no waves making it easy to swim in. The water is not particularly deep at all and you can go pretty far out and still be able to touch. There are also several huts which serve food in case you want a snack. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a fun beach day while in...

Very nice place for weekend getaways. The blue sea and surrounding hills take your heart. You can also enjoy camping here. Access: Sapporo to Otaru , bus and JR line train both are available. Take another bus from Otaru towards Ranshima. The sea beach only 5 min walking distance from the bus stop. One convenient store is at the bus stop. Sea beach no shop is available for food. Toilet is not also available at the sea beach but one can use toilet at the...

A wonderful hidden gem! Just one train stop from the Yoichi Distillery, this beach was the perfect place to cool down during our July visit. It’s only a 5-minute walk from the station (even quicker by bus). The water was crystal clear, and the gentle, shallow entry makes it ideal for children. Peaceful, clean, convenient and easy to reach from Otaru or Yoichi— highly recommended.
