Once one of the largest ski resorts in Aomori Prefecture, Owani Onsen Ski Resort is now operating on a reduced scale due to the financial crisis in the town of Owani. The FSI-approved Amaike International slope is the best. Unfortunately I could not ski the Kansawa trail due to an avalanche risk, but I would love to visit in high season. Cheap tickets, easy access, less crowded lifts, this resort should be more popular. The only problem is taking the lift to Amaike three times!

Nice ski resort Unfortunately, when I went, it was raining and there was a competition on the main panorama course However, the staff were nice and facility well organized. I'd like to return again at a time with better weather.

Owani has a great beginner friendly slope that is wide and gentle. 5 hour lift pass was 2,900 yen. Chair lifts were a bit fast so it was quite a thrill getting off them.
