The northernmost cape and northernmost point of Rebun Island. In terms of latitude, it is located further south than Cape Soya, so it is not the northernmost place in Japan, but I personally thought it was a place with a much greater sense of accomplishment and a sense of unexplored territory than Cape Soya.
There's a beautiful rest house and shop, and I recommend the kelp soft-serve ice cream (it was delicious).For some reason, there's also a guesthouse, so if you're interested in staying in this area, I think it's worth checking out.
She brought my own car, so I wasn't too concerned about transportation, but if you want to use public transportation, there is a bus stop for local buses. It's about 20km from Kafuka Port, so cycling is not a bad idea, and the road is mostly flat, but according to Google Maps, there is a small hill climb called Elia Pass, and above all, even when it's flat, Rebun Island gets quite windy. It's nice to visit but it's even better for starting a hike southwards. We hiked the Cape Tour Course (see photo) to Cape Sukai and then to the bus stop in Nakahama(?). Some of the course was tarmac but some of the bits were quite rough terrain.
