Rikubetsu Space Earth Science Museum — Attraction in Rikubetsu

We got to see millions of lightyears into the past with this giant telescope. The sky wasn’t completely clear, clouds moved in and out, and it was nearly full moon, yet it turned out to be a good night for viewing. Among the objects we viewed were various colors of stars (blues and reds were wonderous), whole galaxies, a red giant, a supernova. We were two adults who came out of it having experienced much wonder. Big thank you to the staff member who showed us around the universe. Highly underrated activity for locals and overseas visitors. Wonderful star/galaxy/binary stars/star cluster/supernova(!) viewing using one of the largest telescopes in Japan! Very friendly staff took time to point the massive telescope towards celestial subjects from as close as our moon to as far as galaxies millions of light years away.
