People in Sado Island are so kind. They are more willing to talk though they cannot speak English. I enjoyed the island very much. Old gold mines, paddy terrace, tarai bunes and sea snail sushi are unique to the island. The island also suffers from aging. There are many abounded tourism related infrastructure all around the island. I drank amasake (it is not an alcoholic beverage). It is very sweet and people said that it is a very healthy drink. It is a really beautiful and warm place. I went to Nigatha to celebrate my belated honeymoon. People in Sado wish for...

Sado Island is a peaceful and stunning getaway off the coast of Niigata. From golden beaches and crystal-clear water to lush mountains and charming villages, every corner feels special. The history here is rich—you can explore old gold mines, atmospheric ruins like the Kitazawa Flotation Plant, and traditional culture that’s been preserved for centuries. The locals are warm and welcoming, and the fresh seafood is amazing. Whether you’re here for nature, history, or just to slow down, Sado Island will stay in your heart long...

Amazing island! Regular ferry running from Niigata, every 3 hours! First one departs at 6 am! Ride is approximately 2 hours long. Ferry fare is bit pricy, but worthwhile the experience! Incredible cycling destination with 270km of high quality roads circling the island, along the coastline !
